“My wife’s grandad passed away six years ago, the support he received from Marie Curie was sensational”
Like many other families across the UK, the incredible care provided by Marie Curie has touched the KASE Care family.
Sandeep Gakhal, Director at KASE Care, was overwhelmed by the care his wife’s grandfather received from Marie Curie nurses.
“We contacted his GP who put us in touch with Marie Curie, they were fantastic and would come round for several hours, sitting up with him and sometimes even staying over so that we could get some sleep – otherwise we’d be awake all the time.”
It was the level of dedication from the Marie Curie nurses and carers that really left an impression on Sandeep and his family.
“On the day he actually passed away, a Marie Curie nurse was due to come over at 9am but we called her and said there was no need to come round – he had passed away – but we wanted to thank her for everything she had done. She said to my wife, I wish you hadn’t had said that because I’m not supposed to come round now, but she still did. She came on her lunch break to help us out, because we’d never been through anything like that before. It just goes to show how much they really care. “
Since that time, Marie Curie has always had a special place in the hearts of Sandeep and his family.
So, when it came to KASE Care partnering with a charity, Marie Curie was first on the list.
“It was genuinely second-to-none care run by this fantastic charity, and they have to have this money raised for them to provide this kind of care that we received. When the time comes, we wouldn’t hesitate to call them again, but we also thought we had to give something back to them as well.”
It has never been a better time to donate to Marie Curie, the UK lockdown has meant that the charity isn’t able to fundraise in the way they were before.
“All the shops are closed – they are really struggling to get this funding. So if we can be a part of that and get some money for them, that’d be great. There are so many families who can’t afford to pay for care, and everyone who needs it deserves to be looked after by the amazing Marie Curie nurses”
As a result, the charity has launched an Emergency Appeal to raise funds for the nurses and hospices that are needed now more than ever.
At KASE Care, we are supporting the Emergency Appeal and would encourage others to do the same.
Please donate and support the incredible care provided by Marie Curie.
