A service user with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) may require care and assistance as a result of sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) through an impact to the head, or a non-TBI caused by medical occurrences.

There are many reasons why someone may be living with an ABI, and it can affect a service user in various ways, including:

  • Cognitively

No two service users are the same and the severity and symptoms will differ to the point that the services our team offer will range from sporadic home visits to assisted living and everything in between. KASE Care will sit down with the service user and their family to discuss their needs and requirements before the creation of a tailored care plan.

Regaining Independence

Where we can, we will arrange for the service user to receive therapy to help them regain as much of their independence as possible. Regardless of age, we can provide access to relevant physiotherapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.

Our service is designed to help the service user live as independent a life as possible, as well as ensuring that their medical needs are met. Rehabilitation-focused treatment makes up part of the care plan for all service users living with an ABI, taking place both in the home setting and a medical facility.

Support for the Family

As well as tendering to the needs of the service user themselves, KASE Care also considers the needs of the family who will naturally have the best interests of their loved one at heart. Seeing a family member living with an ABI can be difficult, especially if the injury was recent and it has left them requiring considerable care and assistance – it can feel as though you have lost someone without having actually lost them.
