Caring for someone who suffers from respiratory conditions is a huge responsibility and requires the support of healthcare professionals to ensure the service user receives the relevant treatment as and when required
According to the NHS, as many as one in five people are affected by respiratory diseases which are the third biggest cause of death in England behind cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), lung cancer and pneumonia are the most common causes of deaths – with service users most at risk during the winter months when respiratory illnesses are at their most prevalent.
Asthma is another respiratory condition that requires constant care. Even if the asthma is not classified as severe, it must be managed to avoid complications further down the line. The KASE Care team can work with both the service user and family to manage the signs and symptoms of the condition, as well as helping to make healthy life choices to reduce the risk of complications.
