How to Support Someone Living with Tetraplegia, Paraplegia or Quadriplegia?

A service user living with any type of spinal injury, such as tetraplegia, paraplegia or quadriplegia, has certain care needs that must be met. The KASE Care team offer specialised spinal cord injury home care services that ensure that both the service user and their family’s needs are taken care of.

Spinal injuries can either be the result of an impact or degenerative condition. Whatever the cause may be, a spinal injury can be debilitating and take away much of the independence that we so crave. For both the person living with the condition, who may feel as though they are a burden, and the family who feels it is their responsibility alone to care for them, it can be the cause of a lot of stress.

Calling on the help of healthcare professionals is, more often than not, the best solution for all involved. Not only does this relieve the family of the responsibilities they are juggling along with their own day-to-day life (such as work), our care staff are trained to administer the care that is vital to help the service user lead as independent a life as possible.

Care of Patient with Spinal Cord Injury

When our care team is introduced to a new individual in need of care, the first thing that we do is sit down with both the service user and their family to devise a tailored care plan. This will take into consideration the medical needs of the individual, personal preferences of the service user and their family, as well as anything else that is highlighted.

Our team will offer support for clinical needs such as autonomic dysreflexia, postural hypertension, bowel care and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) as part of our home care services. We can also give access to healthcare professionals where needed for treatment where necessary.

Cost of In-Home Care

As the services provided by KASE Care differ from individual to individual with the creation of a tailored care plan, we are unable to offer a price for the cost of in-home care. If you or a loved one would benefit from home care or assisted living services, you should get in touch with a member of our team today by calling 0800 799 9057 to discuss your needs.

On top of ensuring that all the care needs of our service users are met, we also strive to allow them to live as independent a life as possible. Often, this may mean physical rehabilitation – especially when an injury has been caused by trauma – to reclaim all or some of the independence they have lost.

Our care team will discuss with you whether physical therapy is something to consider and, if it is, this will be incorporated into your care plan.
